First Snow

This is my yard today, the view from my kitchen/dining room.

I love the snow. This is a wonderful day.

My heart is as light as the fluffy white stuff and the dog is a puppy again as he gulps huge mouthfuls of snow.

Today the snow is my prayer, my hymn, my icon of all that is pure and perfect.

Today it is hot.

I love this picture. I am jealous of your snow. I will close my eyes and imagine the smell....the crisp clean air....the droop of the trees...

What a lovely picture. It is beautiful, isn't it? It will be coming my way soon.

I have the H1N1. Nasty stuff!

Nichol,

Yep, you captured it. Wish we were curled up with a cup of coffee and lots of talk. Love...

Suz,

So sorry! Not about the snow coming your way soon, of course, but for that nasty flu. I hope that it doesn't negatively effect some of your other health challenges! I'm glad that you can stay in touch despite the sickness. My prayers are with you today. Love....

Quite a gorgeous view you have there!

What I love about this post is how you describe your heart as being "light" as snow. You could just have easily have said it was as "cold" as snow.

This so strongly reminds me that I can choose how things make me feel by how I perceive them and what I focus on to connect to.

Lucy, I know that snow isn't for everyone, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why! : ) You are very blessed to live some place equally beautiful. Love....

Hi Pol,

There is constant conflict here in Anchorage between those who can''t wait for the snow and those who want to put it off as long as possible. Luckily, it is easy, easy, easy for me to see the beauty in the snow. I have a harder time when it is brown and gray. If we are lucky, we will have this snow until April. : ) We got another couple of inches today. Love....

I grew up in Canada and always loved the snow. When I was 14, my family moved to Louisiana, whose climate I still am not fond of. Now I live in New Mexico, where we get just enough snow for it to be really special to me.

Rebecca, I swooned over this photo. Even though I am glad to live somewhere that it doesn't snow all during winter - in the last couple of years I have grown in my love and wonder of snow. Last Christmas Seattle was snowed in for two weeks and despite the great inconveniences for people who had to get to work, it was postively the most magical experience I have had in months. Much love, Christine

Christine, I remember your snow photos from last winter very well. It is such a gift when lovely winter settles a hush over our world and insists that we slow down and turn in. Sometimes I think that I'm crazy for loving 6 months of snow. But I do! I do!! Love...
